NOT use an alumni site such as Classmates or Reunion for verification. Profiles
on alumni sites are notoriously unreliable. Neither Classmates nor Reunion verify
the veracity of the profiles written by their subscribers. Do
call the registrar of the school that he claims to have attended to verify dates
of attendance and degree. You will find registrars most cooperative and willing
togive you the necessary information on the telephone. However,
some schools may require that you identify yourself as (say) a prospective employer
and that you send in your information request on your company’s letterhead.
This may require some “social engineering” (read:
